Book Review: My Remise by Koda Copeland

You Might like this book if you:
-Enjoy isekai furry stories involving transformation from human to beast
-Are interested in a world that's a mix between modern and medieval
-Like an easygoing story pace that doesn't feel too high-stakes
-Think bears would look cooler with horns

My Remise is a romantic isekai about a young man who has recently fallen out of any hopes at a wrestling career. Now penniless, he's offered a job by a mysterious cloaked figure, and soon becomes entangled in the troubles of a fantasy world full of anthropomorphic "beasts".

The world of My Remise uses an interesting magic system, where two people must summon up a magical "bond" between them in order to use magic power. While I thought this was going to simply be used as a way of bringing the main romantic couple closer, the story boldly avoids that route. Much of the story is like this, consciously avoiding going where it's expected to go according to its genre tropes. I appreciated that effort.

Furry readers who enjoyed books like Scars of the Golden Dancer by NightEyes DaySpring will likely enjoy this one, as if features a good balance of romance and intrigue.
