New Book Releases

There is an abundance of new and recent releases this year at FurFest, so keep your eye out for these!

Iron Ark by Ryan Loup-Glissant

The highly anticipated sequel to the Dry Spell, one of my favorite furry novels of all time.

ree

Synopsis:

It's autumn in 1935. Thirteen years have passed since the bloody summer of Chicago and America is mired in the desperation of the Great Depression. In rural Pennsylvania, an unlikely found-family of two immortal Nosfurs and a werewolf scrape-by through odd jobs and private-eye work.

When a high-paying case involving a missing millionaire's past sins goes sideways and a wider plot is uncovered, the trio's peaceful domesticity is threatened. Relentless federal agents, violent political agitators and a broken witches coven close in even as a chance for deliverance beckons from an old acquaintance long forgotten.

All the while, beyond America's shores, a dark fate creeps closer…

Available at the FurPlanet dealers table.

The Magician (Greysmoke Rising: Book 1) by Mabel Ramona

A new entry in the Korps Universe!

ree

Synopsis:Ā

JOE IS AT A CROSSROADS.Ā

Ā

His path is the crushing monotony of capitalist existence. A good little cog, being ground to dust by an uncaring system. He can’t even recognize himself in the mirror — not that he ever could, if he was honest. Nobody could understand, surely, and nobody would believe him anyway. Ā

Ā

Too old to hope things would change and too scared to even try another way, his only solace is the world of Heroes and Villains, but even that escape has lost its luster. Ever since she left, nothing feels right anymore. Ā

Ā

The cougar desperately needs change; to feel something, to feel anything. He needs one kind voice to acknowledge him. Someone to tell him that there's a choice. Someone to hold his paw while he takes that first step and help him blaze his own trail. Maybe then — through the ashes and the smoke — the puma can find herself, and what it means to live... Ā

Available at the FurPlanet dealers table.

Crystallization (To Crack a Geode: Book 2) by Runa Fjord

The highly anticipated sequel to the action-packed Dissolution.

ree

Synopsis:

CAPTURED BY SUPERVILLAINS

A former superhero surrendered herself into the clutches of a shadowy organization bent on world domination. Her life and sense of self have been irrevocably shattered. She must now forge a new reality out of the ashes of her past, but there are new revelations ahead for the helpless Hero, threatening to overturn any peace she might find…

CRITICALLY INJURED

After suffering grievous wounds, young Korps agent Starshade fights for survival, and finds herself facing life-altering choices. The perilous path to recovery is far from clear, and threatens to draw her into the coils of a monstrous serpent…

CURSED

Jennifer Delver was a humdrum bureaucrat. Now, she finds herself hunted by Heroes, fighting for her life against the very people who are sworn to protect her. With nowhere to turn for help, she must find some way to escape her dire fate…

Can all three survive the thrilling second issue of: To Crack A Geode?

Available at the FurPlanet dealers table.

The Analog Cat and Other Animals by Huskyteer

An author whose stories I've been wanting to read more of for a long time.

ree

Synopsis:Ā

Robot cats, four hundred drunk rabbits, a kitsune fighter pilot, and a gerbil who thinks she's James Bond.

Ā

The Analog Cat is a collection of speculative fiction stories featuring whimsical creatures by the Ursa Major and Cóyotl Award winning author Alice Dryden.

Available at the FurPlanet dealers table.

Writer Ways: A Helpful Guide to Novel Writing by Tim Susman (writing as Kyell Gold)

As someone writing his own novel, I am so looking forward to this one.

ree

Synopsis:

ā€œI SURE WISH I’D HAD SOMETHING LIKE THIS WHEN I STARTED OUT,ā€ says author Kyell Gold.

He's put thirty years of lessons and experience into these pages so that you can benefit from them as you set out to write your novel, and as a bonus, he's documented how he applied each of these lessons to writing his fantasy novel so you can see his process even more directly. He covers everything from "is this a novel-worthy idea?" to more advanced concepts like theme, tone, and voice. Whether you're starting your first novel or hoping to get better at your next one, this book will help you navigate the long, difficult, fun journey of novel writing.

Available at the FurPlanet dealers table.

The Enormities Known to Exist by Bro Kow Ski

I know very little about this one, so I'm curious to see what it's all about.

ree

Synopsis:

In an instant of terrible discovery, James Nesbitt's life is forever changed when he is convicted of unnatural offences and transported to Van Dieman's Land. Cast out from his pampered colonial life on the mainland, he finds himself a member of the convict class and becomes subject to its daily brutality and humiliation. However, in this bleak landscape he comes to recognize a kindred soul in Andrew Scott, the probation station's scourger. Now the two must learn to survive as outcasts at the end of the earth.

The Enormities Known to Exist is a historically informed homage to gay men in the antipodes. Drawing on research into documents and media surrounding homosexuality in Australia, it is a mosaic of moments and attitudes to bring light to the hidden histories of our people. Histories which modern structural forces continue seeking to erase.

Available at the FurPlanet dealers table.

Indulge: A Fatfur Anthology edited by Buddy Goodboy, Esq.

Definitely picking up a copy of this for... reasons.

ree

Synopsis:

Why not Treat Yourself? Afterall, the girthy guys in this book won't mind one bit. Why not get this generous assortment of stories about substantial furries? An anthology collection of stories about hefty, heavy, rotund, and pudgy people and the folks who adore them. This sampler box of stories is a trove of talented authors inviting you in to celebrate these massive mammals.

Buddy Goodboy, the gifted editor, has collected a buffet for you.

So go ahead. Let yourself; Indulge.

The Wideness of the World: An Early Modern Anthology by The Furry Historical Fiction Society

The fourth book in this amazing anthology series of historical fiction.

ree

Synopsis:

Widespread literacy is perhaps the watershed between what we call the modern era and all that came before. When every merchant, every soldier, and every sailor can record their tales, then stories from one end of the earth may reach, and be told, at the other.

Discover, then, these stories: on the printing press, up the forecastle, on an uninhabited isle across uncharted seas, or just around the corner nailed to the cathedral door. Follow them as they spread from tavern to theatre, from dockside to cloister, from palace to slum and back, until they encompass…

The Wideness of the World.

Available at the NightEyes DaySpring's dealers table.

Gravitational Pull by Ty Fox

One of my favorite books of the year!

ree

Synopsis:

Finally in his last year of university, Skyler thinks things might be working out for him. His dreams of going to graduate school and getting his PhD are well within reach, he has a small but solid core group of friends, and he has found someone who loves him – his ever patient boyfriend, Ryan.

But our pasts are never far behind us. His parents, his ex-boyfriend, and ongoing struggles with his sexuality cast shadows over his relationship with Ryan. As these forces converge and threaten to pull him apart at the seams, Skyler is going to have to solve who he is before he can figure out who he wants to be.
